Covid: Four more new clusters in Sarawak | Malaysia

Monday, 19 Apr 2021 08:28 PM MYT KUCHING, April 19 The Sarawak Health Department today declared four more new clusters in the state, namely, the Sungai Anus Cluster (in Selangau district), Sungai Selitut (Tatau), Sungai Passin (Matu) and Sungai Duan (Mukah). The State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) in a statement today said all these new clusters were community clusters that were detected at longhouses. It said the Sungai Anus and Selitut Clusters involved one longhouse each, Sungai Passin Cluster (four longhouses) and Sungai Duan Cluster (seven). The additional clusters bring the total number of clusters that are still active in the state to 49. Today, Sarawak recorded 589 Covid-19 new cases, bringing the tally in the state to 24,529, while the number of deaths from the viral infection rose to 140 including the three reported today. Bernama

Covid-19: Sarawak records 508 cases, two new clusters

SIBU: Two new clusters contributed to the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the state, with 508 cases reported on Sunday (April 18). The State Disaster Management Committee in a statement said the Jalan Bintulu-Sibu cluster near Tatau reported 11 cases. The cluster involved a secondary school and residence at KM60 of the Jalan Bintulu-Sibu in Tatau district. The index case is a 16-year-old student who tested positive at the Tatau Health Clinic on April 10, it said. The committee believed the patient contracted the virus from the community and active case detection found another 10 infected. A total of 546 individuals were screened, with 186 testing negative while another 349 are awaiting for results.

KUCHING, Apr 17 The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has submitted to the Ministry of Education (MoE) a list of schools to be closed due to the Covid-19 infections in these schools, said SDMC chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas today. The Deputy Chief Minister said they were still awaiting a decision from the MoE, which is expected to be made by either tomorrow (Sunday) or Monday.
