The High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday directed the State Chief Secretary to make the government’s stand clear on why the compensation payable to the family of farmers who committed suicide was not extended to those farmers who borrowed money from private individual moneylenders.
A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka and Justice S. Vishwajith Shetty issued the direction after noticing from the report, submitted by the government on compensation paid to the families of farmers who ended their life in Shahpur taluk of Yadgir district, that compensation was paid to family of those farmers who had availed of loans from banks and other financial institutions.

Imphal (Manipur) [India], February 14 (ANI): Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Saturday distributed 186 desktop computer sets to different departments for the implementation of e-office file management system at an event organised by the General Administration Department (GAD).
State Chief Secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar, administrative secretaries and other officials were also present at the event.
Speaking at the event, Singh appreciated the administrative secretaries, head of departments and government employees for dedicatedly working hard to achieve progress in the past four years. It was because of their devotion that the State Government had received many prizes and recognition during this time. It is a matter of pride that Manipur is marching ahead despite facing the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chief Minister said.

The Odisha Lokayukt has issued notice to State Chief Secretary over the government not granting sanctions for prosecution of officials under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Prasanta Kumar Mohapatra had moved the Lokayukt complaining that he had obtained information under Right To Information that as many as 69 cases relating to corruption against different public servants were pending since 2015 in the General Administration and Public Grievance Department for sanctions regarding their prosecution under Prevention of Corruption Act.
‘Deliberate delay’
Mr. Mohapatra alleged that applications were deliberately kept pending for sanction. “Non-issuance of sanction order in time is an offence as per Central Vigilance Commission,” he submitted.

Mysore/Mysuru: At a time when many industries and companies in Mysuru are mulling closure or diversification, thanks to COVID contagion, lockdown and slow economic growth, three mega industries are set to open in Mysuru region giving hopes to hundreds of educated, skilled but unemployed youth.
The three industries that are coming up in Mysuru are ITC that is establishing a manufacturing unit of nicotine and nicotine bitartrate dihydrate, Aditya Birla Group that is setting up a paint factory and Rich’s Private Limited that is setting up a ready-to-eat food processing plant. The total investment that is being brought by these firms run up to Rs. 2,975 crore.
