MAYVILLE Village officials are giving local residents a slight break on their taxes. On Tuesday, the Mayville Village Board approved its budget for the 2021-22 year. The approved budget for the general fund is $1,694,809, which is a slight increase from the current $1.64 million budget. The new budget calls for a tax rate of $7.42 per $1,000 of assessed valuation. The current village tax rate is $7.55 per $1,000. The approved budget gives raises for different village employees. Most hourly employees received a 50 cent increase. There were no pay raises for elected officials. According to Mayor Kenneth Shearer the only major new purchase is a new plow truck for the highway department.

Town planning aide Greg Bergman outlined the difference between the projects at Thursday’s work session after board members raised concerns a week earlier about a prior decision in 2019. “It’s not apples to apples,” he said of the two projects.

The IDA acted as the lead agency under the State Environmental Quality Review Act.
