THE Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party on Tuesday suspended five members of the party over alleged gross misconduct and anti-party activities.
It was gathered that the action of the party against the axed members was not unconnected with the lingering leadership crisis rocking the party in the South-West between the Governor Seyi Makinde and the former Governor Ayo Fayose factions.
The suspension of members was contained in a statement issued by the state Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr Kennedi Peretei, on Tuesday.
The statement was titled ‘Ondo PDP suspends members, dissolves state elders’ committee.’

The fight over the soul of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South West between the former governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, and the governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde, has torn apart the Ondo state chapter of the party.
A statement by the state party’s publicity secretary, Kennedy Peretei, announced the indefinite suspension of a former party state chairman, Hon. Ebenezer Alabi; former party state secretary, Chief Oyedele Ibini; a former national assembly member, Hon. Lad Ojomo; former Zonal publicity secretary of the party in the south west, Mr Ayo Fadaka; and the minority leader in the state assembly member, Hon Rasheed Elegbeleye.

The suspension was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday night by the party.
The chieftains of the party, who were suspended indefinitely over alleged anti-party activities included the former Chairman of the party, Ebenezer Alabi and former Publicity Secretary of the party in South West, Ayo Fadaka.
Others were the former Chairman, National Sports Commission, Rasheed Elegbeleye; Chief Oyedele Ibini and Hon. Lad Ojomo.
In the statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Kennedy Peretei, added that the Elders’ Committee of the party in the state had also been dissolved.
