Midway French Horn Player first in a decade to be honored in All-State Band

MIDWAY, Texas Junior French horn player AJ Watson is being honored as the first Midway High School Band student in a decade to be selected as a Texas Music Educators Association All-State Musician.
This is Watson s first time performing as a member of a TMEA All-State organization. She is also the first Midway Band student to receive this recognition since Midway High School entered the 6A classification, according to Midway Independent School District.

John Paul Lynch, Sr., 70, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 23. at Berkeley Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born March 7, 1950 in Fairmont, WV, son of the late John E. Lynch and Lorena Steele Lynch.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Rosemary Moore Lynch; his brother George Allen Lynch and wife, Carol; his three sons, J.P. Jr. and wife, Dawn; Eric Scott and wife, Kristin; and Ryan Patrick and wife, Stephanie. He is also survived by seven grandchildren- Madison, Anna. Sofia, Emma, Juliana, Aidan, and Teagan, and two nieces, Sabrina Lynch and Rachel Ramage.
He was a graduate of East Fairmont High School and Fairmont State College. For eight years, he was the Director of Bands at Sistersville High School in Sistersville, WV before coming to Martinsburg High School as the Director of Bands. He taught at MHS for 24 years before his retirement in 2005. Since that time, he has taught music to the children in the Eastern Panhandle at Shepherdstown Middl
SWEETWATER COUNTY Band and choir members from Rock Springs High School (RSHS) and Green River High School (GRHS) recently received All-State honors.
According to the Wyoming High School Activities Association, the 2021 All-State Band, All-State Choir and All-State Orchestra event took place January 17-19 in Laramie. Students from all over the state participated three-day event.
GRHS and RSHS students participated in the choir and band competitions, but not in orchestra.
