HELENA â Governor Greg Gianforte has ended the state of emergency in Montana that he declared earlier this year to address the COVID-19 pandemic.
The
February 12 directive was issued to amend the existing State of Emergency and to remove the state s mask mandate.
âMonths ago, the light at the end of the tunnel was distant and dim. As weâve worked together to overcome this pandemic, the light has grown bigger and brighter. Today, we are out of the tunnel, and we are surrounded in light. Today, the conditions we face are nothing like what we faced 15 months ago, 12 months ago, or six months ago,â Gianforte said. âToday, the conditions we face no longer warrant a state of emergency.â

“Recent severe thunderstorms downed power poles and lines in Eastern Montana, leaving too many residents without power. I appreciate the robust efforts the region’s electric coops made to restore power to affected communities. Today’s disaster declaration is a first step to help residents and electric coops in the area recover,” Gianforte said in a statement. “The S
