KDHE Issues Air Quality Advisory Due to Prescribed Burns, While Wichita Fire Dept Enforces April Burn Bans

They say that the burning activity on Thursday, April 1st along with remnant smoke from Wednesday’s activity will heighten air pollutant levels throughout parts of the Flint Hills and Central Kansas. The Air Quality Index (AQI) will range from Moderate to Unhealthy for sensitive groups, and  unhealthy near burn activity (You can view the AQI or your area by visiting www.airnow.gov). The KDHE offered guidance on how to protect your health on days when smoke is present in your community:

This time, in the State’s favor. Today, March 31, 2020, Bicknell spoke at Immigrant Park at Pritchett Pavilion in Pittsburg, Kansas about the most recent decision and the case overall. Bicknell, a Pittsburg native, once owned the largest number of Pizza Hut franchises in the nation. The dispute centers on where his official residence was when he sold his company, NPC International, in 2006. The Case Bicknell says his official residence was in Florida when the sale of NPC International was made. He says he moved there in 2003, so he owed no Kansas income taxes on the sale.

Bicknell vows to keep fighting KDOR in multimillion dollar tax dispute Morning Sun PITTSBURG, Kan.   Former Pizza Hut tycoon and Pittsburg native Gene Bicknell was briefly back in town Wednesday for a press conference, following a recent state appeals court ruling that reversed his win in a $63 million income tax dispute with the Kansas Department of Revenue and ordered a new trial.  “I can tell you right now that I will not quit fighting this,” Bicknell said Wednesday. “I’ll fight it to the last breath of my life, because I believe in what’s right and I believe in justice.”
