Prince Charles wants to open up Royal palaces for the public

Prince Charles plans to open up the Royal Palaces when he becomes king and transform them from private spaces to public places , it emerged last night. Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Balmoral, Sandringham and Clarence House will remain as Royal homes but the public will have greater access under the plans.  A source told The Sunday Times: The Prince wants to bring people in to connect with the institution. He recognises it needs to keep evolving and in the modern era people want to be able to access their palaces.   The Queen, 95, is said to be aware of the plans.

The Prince of Wales reportedly plans to give people greater access to the royal palaces when he becomes king. Charles wants Buckingham Palace, Clarence House, Windsor Castle, Sandringham and Balmoral to be transformed from “private spaces to public places”, according to The Sunday Times. The newspaper said the heir to the throne wants these royal residences to open more widely for longer periods during the year. People stand in the rain outside Buckingham Palace (Aaron Chown/PA) Charles is reportedly speaking to the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and other royals about the plans. The newspaper said Charles is considering opening Buckingham Palace and gardens throughout the year when he is king, including when he is in residence.

He made the announcement while visiting the headquarters of Gaillimh le Gaeilge (who will lead on the implementation of the langauge plan for Galway City plan) and Áras Mhic Amhlaigh in Cnoc na Cathrach where he announced the approval under the process, of the language plan for Bearna and Cnoc na Cathrach.
