The First Minister is facing calls from the Scottish Conservatives to step down after two witnesses backed up Salmond’s claim that she misled parliament about a meeting with her predecessor. Written evidence from both Duncan Hamilton – a former SNP MSP and lawyer for Salmond – and the SNP’s former communications director Kevin Pringle contradict Sturgeon’s statements to parliament and her submission to a Holyrood inquiry.

School districts statewide are up against a strict deadline to install silent panic buttons in every school by the start of the next school year, which is now required by law.
But there are new concerns over delays that districts might face in getting those systems up and working by August 1.
More than three years after the deadly mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, a law created in the aftermath, Alyssa a Law, will take effect during the 2021-22 school year.

PARKLAND, Fla. - Flags will be flying at half-staff on across Florida on Sunday to honor the victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting.
Sunday marks three years since 17 people were killed and another 17 wounded when a gunman opened fire at the school in Parkland, Florida on Valentine s Day 2018.
The massacre on Feb. 14, 2018 Valentine’s Day inflamed the nation’s debate over guns, turned some Parkland students into political activists and gave rise to some of the biggest youth demonstrations since the Vietnam era.
