The Fourth Annual Sharon Hardy Memorial Par 3 Tournament is scheduled for June 24 at Hardy’s Custom Golf, 2003 West Pine Street, Mount Airy. Tee time is 9 a.m. for golfers, lunch will be served midday, and sponsorships are available.
Sharon Hardy was a teacher, assistant principal, and principal in the Surry County School System for 21 years. She worked at several schools including Pilot Mountain Middle, Dobson Elementary, Central Middle and Cedar Ridge Elementary.
As a way to continue her legacy the Hardy family has chosen to donate the facilities for the event to benefit the Surry County Schools Educational Foundation.

American Armory Museum offers taste of military history
SUISUN VALLEY Guests at the American Armory Museum’s Military Vehicle Demonstration Day and Car Show got a peek Saturday at new and future exhibits as well as a crushing display of power.
Still under construction is a tunnel where guests will enter and view items that include an Arabic policeman’s vest and a scene from the 2019 death of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

For the students in Walden Groveâs Indoor Percussion ensemble and Winter Guard, the pandemic did little to slow their success or motivation.
Working through times of virtual learning, limited rehearsals and new forms of competition, both teams earned spots as finalists in the Winter Guard International competition. The teams have also been competing virtually and are among the top 39 schools in their division across the nation.
The Winter Guard received an âExpertâ from WGI last weekend, the second-highest rating.Â
