ASUN 2020-21 administration to vote on final bills of their term

The 2020-21 Association of Students of the University of Nebraska administration will be voting on the final bills of its term at the weekly meeting Wednesday night before the transition to the 2021-22 administration.  If Government Bill 41 passes, ASUN will allocate up to $4,250 to the Student Organic Farm from the 2020-21 ASUN Green Fund budget. Additionally, the bill calls on the leaders of the farm to give a report to ASUN following the completion of the project.  The Student Organic Farm, located on East Campus, allows students to connect, learn and grow food, according to the farm’s website. If Government Bill 42 passes, ASUN will continue to work with the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor to advocate for transparency in student fees for the 2021-22 academic year as well as future years. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill: UNC-Chapel Hill inducts 221 students into Phi Beta Kappa

Share Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest and most honored college honorary society, has inducted 221 University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill students as new members. The recent induction ceremony featured remarks by Chancellor Kevin M. Guskiewicz and Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Robert A. Blouin, and a keynote address by Viji Sathy, a psychology and neuroscience professor of the practice. Phi Beta Kappa membership is open to undergraduates in the College of Arts & Sciences and professional degree programs who meet stringent eligibility requirements. A student who has completed 75 hours of coursework in the liberal arts and sciences with a GPA of 3.85 or better, on a 4-point scale, is eligible for membership. Also eligible is any student who has completed 105 hours of coursework in the liberal arts and sciences with a 3.75 GPA. Grades earned at other universities are not considered. Less than 1% of all college students qualify.

Eight Candidates Named in the Final Phase of UAA Chancellor Search The UAA Chancellor Search Committee has recommended eight candidates to meet with the UAA and Anchorage community in the final phase of its search for the next UAA Chancellor. The eight leaders were chosen from a pool of diverse and highly qualified candidates and include three Alaskans and five university leaders from outside of Alaska. The eight candidates are: Deena Bishop, Ed.D., Superintendent of the Anchorage School District [2016-Present], former Superintendent of the Mat-Su School District [2011-2016] Pearl Brower, Ph.D., former President, Iḷisaġvik College [2012-2020], Dean of Students and Institutional Development, Iḷisaġvik College [2007-2012]
