Covid: Staggered return for secondary school pupils after the Christmas holidays

Exam year pupils will return to the classroom as normal in January. Credit: PA Secondary school pupils’ return to class in England will be staggered in the first week back after the Christmas holidays. Exam-year students, vulnerable pupils and the children of key workers will go back to school as normal in January, with the rest beginning the term online. The intention is for all pupils to be back in the classroom by January 11. It is hoped the staggered return will allow headteachers to roll out mass testing of children and staff in the new year, with areas in tier 3 prioritised.
