Santa Clarita Man Killed In 14 Freeway Motorcycle Crash Identified, GoFundMe Set Up A Santa Clarita man was identified as the individual killed in a 14 Freeway motorcycle crash Thursday evening. Johnny Christensen, from Canyon Country was killed in the crash, his family said in a GoFundMe. Around 6:50 p.m. Thursday Christensen was traveling home from work and collided with a big rig on the northbound 14 Freeway near Newhall Avenue  in Newhall, according to officials. When units arrived on scene, he was pronounced dead on arrival, according to the California Highway Patrol. “No one is ever prepared for an accident let alone a passing to go along with it,” family and friends said in the GoFundMe.

SCV News | City Council to Consider Federal Funds in Support of Future Local Affordable Housing

The Santa Clarita City Council will consider allocating a little over $3.5 million in federal funding intended to support low- and moderate-income residents with decent and affordable housing and economic opportunities. The proposed allocation will be discussed as part of a public hearing, which also includes considering amending one action plan and adopting another required by the federal government to receive the funding, during the City Council’s regular meeting Tuesday starting at 6 p.m. Local nonprofit organizations, like Single Mothers Outreach, Family Promise of Santa Clarita Valley and Bridge to Home, applied and were selected to receive a portion of the federal Community Development Block Grant funding, according to a city staff report.
