Newport Police Called To Newport Medical Center Newport police had to be called to the Newport Medical Center late Wednesday due to an aggressive female subject in the ER. Hospital staff told police that 26 year old Nina Williams became aggressive toward the staff and began spitting on them. Police officer Justin Shelton felt her wrath as he went to place her under arrest she hit him in the face with her elbow and actually bit another officer on the hand. At that point Williams was forcefully restrained and arrested for disorderly conduct, assault and resisting arrest…when she arrived at the Cocke County Jail…jail staff were forced to retrain her as well due to her aggressive behavior

Missing Man Found In Newport – 92 3 WNPC

Missing Man Found In Newport Monday afternoon Newport police located a missing man. Officers were called to the Weigels on Cosby Hwy about a man who had been t\sitting near the entrance of the store for most of the day. Police found a black male who was identified as Jimmy Miller who was actually reported as a missing person out of Mebane , NC just east of Greensboro. Miller seemed confused and could not tell officers how he got where he was. First Call paramedics transported Miller to the Newport Medical Center. The family in North Carolina was notified that he had been found in Newport. Surrounding law enforcement agencies were given a description of Miller’s vehicle so they could be on the lookout for it.
