A large number of Manchester United supporters gathered outside Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon to protest the Glazer family’s decision to involve the club in a breakaway Super League.
United were one of 12 ‘founding members’ of the new Super League only to withdraw from the breakaway tournament on Tuesday, along with the five other Premier League clubs involved.
On Saturday hundreds of United fans gathered to call on the Glazer family to leave the club, only two days after some fans blocked both entrances to the club s Carrington training ground.

Manchester United fans protested against the club s American owners outside Old Trafford on Saturday as the row over the collapse of a proposed breakaway European Super League (ESL) rumbled on.
United were one of 12 clubs to initially sign up to the planned ESL, only to withdraw within 48 hours after a backlash from their own players and fans, as well as governments and football s governing bodies.
Prayer is 12 years old and chose not to speak to adults once the pandemic began
A little girl from Manchester who refused to speak to adults after the pandemic began is just one child affected by an ‘intensifying emotional health crisis’ faced by youngsters following Covid lockdowns, a charity has said.
Twelve-year-old Prayer Oloton David from Newton Heath suddenly stopped talking to adults at school when she went back to the classroom between lockdowns in 2020.
It was out of character, her mother Esther David-Osamwen said.
Prayer’s selective muteness came as she felt increasingly overwhelmed.
Esther said: “My daughter was not so confident before.
Boycotting the Nasty 12 will only speed up the Super League…

Reading some of the
mailbox suggestions regarding boycotting the clubs, cancelling season tickets, never buying merchandise, etc… are almost spectacularly missing the point. Doing those actions isn’t going to driver the owners out of the clubs, but it will move the clubs out of the cities they are in.
We are STILL going through a year where the stadiums are empty, with no income from season tickets (either they’ve banked the money now for next season’s season tickets, or the money for next season is being deferred to next year), the sales of shirts is down, the money from TV has also gone down. Clubs are making staff redundant, taking furlough money and in some cases, they are borrowing money from the Government just to stay afloat.

Manchester United fans protesting against the Glazer family’s ownership of their club blocked entrances to the club’s Carrington training ground on Thursday morning.
A series of protestors with flags also accessed the first-team training pitch, ahead of United’s training session today.
In a statement, United said manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spoke to the group and they eventually left the site.
The Athletic understands that Michael Carrick, Darren Fletcher and Nemanja Matic also spoke to the protestors ahead of their departure.
The protests come after United’s involvement in the controversial Super League plans earlier this week. The club withdrew from the project on Tuesday due to widespread backlash and on Wednesday, Joel Glazer sent an open letter to United fans apologising for failing “to show enough respect” for football’s traditions.
