Wellesley resident to perform in virtual production
Wellesley resident Molly Hughes will perform in Needham Community Theatre s virtual production of “A Little More Fun in 2021 A Musical Revue” March 5-6.
Due to the pandemic, many theatrical companies throughout the world have had to put live performances on hold. Needham Community Theatre will offer entertainment for its audiences through virtual performances.
Throughout the fall and early winter, three plays were performed. In February, NCT produced its first musical revue, titled “A Little Bit of Fun in 2021.” The show was a huge success. Audiences from around the country loved the songs from Broadway and Hollywood shows performed by talented singers from our community.

A new program that aims to provide financial support for struggling restaurants and healthy meals to those facing food insecurity will launch next month in Newton, Wellesley and Brookline.
The initiative will deliver more than 10,000 restaurant meals to food pantries, senior programs and other persons in need who have been impacted by COVID-19.
It is funded by a $175,000 state budget earmark proposed by state Sen. Cynthia Creem, D-Newton, who wanted to help both restaurants and residents in her district.
The Newton-Needham Regional Chamber is directing the effort, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Newton, the Wellesley Health Department and the Brookline Chamber of Commerce.

Although vaccinations for COVID have begun, businesses continue struggling to remain open. Restaurants, one of the hardest-hit industries, have had to reinvent themselves in order to survive.
Stephen Martino, group marketing and events manager for Cushman Concepts (a restaurant group founded by husband and wife team Chef Tim and Nancy Cushman), discussed how Chestnut Hill s Bianca has used creativity to attract and keep customers during this difficult time.
When did you first open and when did you reopen during COVID?
Bianca was slated to open on March 19, 2020 - just days after we went on lockdown for COVID. We were finally able to open partially in August with takeout and delivery from “mr roni cups,” the Roman-style pizzeria inside Bianca. Once we had that up and running and figured out a plan, we opened Bianca fully on Nov. 12.
