A cocaine-fuelled driver was snared after police noticed he wasn t displaying front number plates.

Hexham A Hexham man has been jailed for a total of 26 weeks after he admitted stalking and harassing a woman. Paul Smith (51), of Broomhaugh Close, Hexham, appeared at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court on Monday (April 26). He admitted two charges of pursuing a course of conduct which amounted to the stalking of a woman, and which he knew or ought to know amounted to the harassment of her. Court papers say Smith sent gifts, deposited money into her bank, and made unwanted contact between July 16 and September 13, 2020 at Hexham. They added the behaviour was ‘intense and worrying over a length of time’.

Robert Lashley, 26, of Richardson Street, Ashington has been sentenced at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to his dog.
The RSPCA inspector who led the investigation said: “I found Bash, a black and tan terrier with an injury to his lower right jaw – it looked sore and in need of veterinary treatment. Lashley claimed a friend had taken Bash to receive treatment but there were no such records nor could the veterinary staff remember a dog being brought into the surgery with such injuries.”
Bash, who has found a new loving home.
