Between using the racetrack less frequently and implementing several noise-mitigation strategies, Bristol Motor Speedway would vastly reduce the noise impact on the neighborhoods surrounding the fairgrounds, according to a consultant s report made public on Tuesday.
Jackson Wrightson with the Texas-based firm WJHW presented the study results to the Metro Nashville Board of Fair Commissioners on Tuesday, then discussed the report with the Tennessee Lookout.

Along with traffic and parking, noise is the biggest concern for neighbors, who have been engaged with a decade-plus battle with racetrack operators about reducing the impact of racing.
Bristol Motor Speedway is seeking to take over the racetrack and renovate the facility. State legislation allowed for much of the renovation to be funded with fees on tickets to events at the racetrack, but the full financing plan has not been revealed.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. is so dedicated to the idea of NASCAR returning to Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway that he has already devoted the biggest asset the industry has for its hypothetical return.

Since retiring from full-time Cup Series competition in 2017, Earnhardt has raced once a year in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for JR Motorsports. Should Speedway Motorsports Inc. and the City of Nashville close out on an agreement to bring NASCAR back, Earnhardt has already said he will enter the first race back.
During a press conference before the ARCA, Super Late Model and Pro Late Model tripleheader over the weekend, he took it a step further and said he would race at the Fairgrounds every year until he completely retires if NASCAR comes back to the Music City.

Metro Nashville announced on Tuesday that the homeless shelter set up in response to the COVID-19 pandemic is scheduled to close on July 1. The decision is prompted in part by a rising rate of vaccination among Nashvillians, including those experiencing homelessness.
“There continues to be a higher number of those at the temporary shelter that have been vaccinated thanks to the hard work of the Health Department and other community organizations,” says Dr. Gill Wright, interim chief medical officer for the Metro Public Health Department, in a press release about the decision. “With vaccinations continuing to increase it is safe to begin shifting services found at the temporary shelter back to the community organizations that serve the homeless, while also monitoring the pro
