Bell tower restored and replaced at Fairhaven s Oxford School

FAIRHAVEN A little piece of Fairhaven history has finally been returned home. The cupola, which once housed the famous Paul Revere Bell on top of the Oxford School, was restored and erected back onto the building on Jan. 9, after being removed five years ago.    This wasn’t announced to the town beforehand, as a way of mitigating crowds forming. “It was a low-key surprise event for the town. It’s a missed part of the North Fairhaven skyline. Everyone involved did this because they love the town and doing things where they can say ‘I helped with that.’ There’s a lot of pride in this,” said Lee Baumgartner, member of the Fairhaven Bell Committee.
