Robust growth projected for San Antonio region after pandemic, planners say
SAN ANTONIO – New projections for the San Antonio region are telling a familiar story explosive growth is likely to continue over the next few decades.
Planners with the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) presented the latest projections to the MPO’s transportation policy board Monday afternoon.
“The process for forecasting future growth in population and employment is not an exact science, and it’s important to remember that, because we don’t have a crystal ball, we are doing the very best that we can,” said Travis Nedrich, regional transportation modeler with the Alamo Area MPO.

The San Antonio Board of Realtors® analyzed San Antonio ZIP codes for the San Antonio Express-News based on single-family home sales handled through the Multiple Listing Service. For sale by owner, properties are not included in the statistics. The list covers ZIP codes in and around the city of San Antonio as well as Boerne and Fair Oaks Ranch. Areas within San Antonio where home sales data is not available, such as military bases, are listed as not applicable. The study is designed to show the number of home sales, median sales price, and price per square foot within each ZIP code over a four-month period. In all, the study covers 7,737 single-family homes sold over the four-month period. It is important to remember that real estate is local, and two houses that are similar in square footage and age can sell for vastly different prices depending on location. Update: A tornado watch has been issued for San Antonio until 9 p.m. Tuesday. According to the National Weather Service, a couple of tornadoes are possible along with hail that has the potential to be as large as limes. Wind gusts of up to 70 mph are also likely.
Update: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for parts of Bexar County until 2:45 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
The area for the alert includes Fair Oaks Ranch, Scenic Oaks and Bulverde.
Radar shared by the NWS on social media showed very heavy rain plus gusty winds and nickel sized hail. Forecasters warn that motorists can expect reduced visibility and water covered roadways.

SAN ANTONIO – SafeWise recently ranked the safest cities in Texas and there’s good news and bad news depending on where you live in the San Antonio area.
The good news is that two incorporated cities in our area made the top ten for safest cities in the state. Fair Oaks Ranch came in at No. 3 and Helotes took the No. 9 spot on the list.
However, San Antonio came in very close to last place, ranking 251 out of 266.
