FCS summer camps to fill pandemic learning gaps

FAIRBORN In an effort to help students who experienced learning disruptions due to the pandemic, the Fairborn City School district is offering several programs both this summer and next year.
“This past year has been a difficult time for schools and families due to COVID,” the district said. “We realize that many of our students missed learning opportunities and would like to provide some options during this summer for those that are interested.”
The district is planning for summer learning, additional learning supports & curriculum for next school year, and some after school learning options for next year, according to a release.

With the recent resignation of Dr. E.R. Richter’s principal, Kristie Kelly, Dayton ISD administrators were tasked to find and hire the right person for the job. That decision has been made, and it is a good one. It is always great when a school district can cultivate a culture where leaders are built from within, and that’s from where the new principal comes. Ashley Hobbs has been an Assistant Principal at Kimmie Brown and Richter Elementary, and she now takes over as Principal of Richter Elementary.
With this change, we wanted to give the community an opportunity to get to know Mrs. Hobbs and who she is as she now becomes the campus leader. We had an opportunity to ask her a few questions:
