Erica Wheeler helps Sparks knock off slumping Sky

Erica Wheeler scored a game-high 22 points Saturday, including a couple of key buckets in the last two minutes, to lift the Los Angeles Sparks to a 68-63 win over the visiting Chicago Sky.
Wheeler hit a driving layup with 1:19 left in the game for a 63-58 lead, then converted a pullup jumper on Los Angeles next possession for a seven-point advantage with 42.4 seconds remaining.
Wheeler and Amanda Zahui B combined to make three of four foul shots in the final 30 seconds to put the game away and hand the Sky their seventh straight setback.
With their 68-63 win on Saturday, the Los Angeles Sparks committed a season sweep of the Chicago Sky. Guard Erica Wheeler scored a season-high of 22 points and center Amanda Zahui B led the boards with 10 rebounds. All except one starter scored in the double-digits during the match-up.
A’ja Wilson put up a monster stat line against the New York Liberty and Riquna Williams hit the two key threes late that the Las Vegas Aces needed to improve to 6-3.
Shorthanded Sparks rout hapless Fever, 98-63

Kristi Toliver scored a game-high 22 points and the host Los Angeles Sparks raced to a 23-point halftime lead on their way to a 98-63 victory against the Indiana Fever on Thursday night.
Te a Cooper added 15 points, Bria Holmes and Erica Wheeler had 14 each, and Nia Coffey had 13 for the Sparks (3-3), who shot 56.1 percent from the floor and 50 percent on 3-pointers. The Sparks won for the third time in four games despite being short-handed.
Nneka Ogwumike will miss 4-6 weeks because of a left knee sprain suffered in a loss at Dallas last Sunday and her sister, Chiney Ogwumike, missed her second consecutive game because of right knee soreness and is listed as week-to-week.
