For almost three decades, the annual Mardi Grass festival at Nimbin has been the rally and celebration at the heart of Nimbin and now organisers have revealed what its triumphant return will look like.
Now Australian HEMP Party and Nimbin HEMP Embassy president Michael Balderstone has revealed more information about how the event will take shape.
The organiser said classic events like the Hemp Olympics, Kombi Convoy and the Sunday rally/parade were all “green-lit” and set to return.
“The parade is allowed to have 5000 people, we’ve done all the numbers and the Covid forms and I think we’re passing all the tests,” he said.

6th Apr 2021 10:00 AM | Updated: 12:44 PM A number of roads have been closed by Northern Rivers councils after recent rain and due to other reasons. The current list by MyRoadInfo includes:
Byron Shire Council: Council is not aware of any other roads that are closed, she added. As always - people should drive to the conditions and be aware that because the catchment is so wet, water rises quickly and can cause flash flooding in some areas. Closed 1. Norton Street, Ballina (between Fox and Bentinck Streets) - Access to this road is restricted due to a council approved event. 2. Dalwood Road @ Gum Creek Weir (Caution) WATER OVER ROAD - Proceed with Caution

Scratch Patisserie is a household name in the Northern Rivers, and it’s a rare individual who can walk past one of their pastries without stopping.
Since opening the doors to Scratch ten years ago, Greg and Angie Wilton have underpinned their family business with one simple mantra: make it fresh, make it from scratch.
The Northern Rivers is now renowned for its small batch, artisan offerings, and Scratch Patisserie is a favourite of Mullumbimby Farmers Markets (every Friday) and New Brighton Farmers Markets (every Tuesday).
It’s been a year since Greg and Angie chose to close their shop and focus solely on the markets in the region.

Can you teach people empathy? Specifically, can you teach empathy to politicians? Itâs a question hanging in the air now that disgraced Liberal National MP Andrew Laming has been ordered into âempathy trainingâ by Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
Itâs one of those terms thrown around in the corporate world - often accompanied by an eye roll from staff cynical about the prospect of someone with a psychology degree and a Powerpoint slide deck teaching them how to feel.
Futureyeâs Katherine Teh delivers a demonstration empathy training workshop to federal politicians.
