A POPPY mosaic holding thousands of thank you notes to military heroes has been installed at the REME Museum in Lyneham. The Remember Together poppy was made for the 2020 Remembrance Day in lockdown to honour those who have served. Unveiling the piece were Maj Rick Henderson and Col Bob Fram, as members of the museum looked on. The BBC’s local radio stations asked listeners to submit photos of themselves, displaying the name of a service person they wanted to remember. Rick, who joined the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers as an apprentice vehicle mechanic as a teenager in 1977 and retired in 2012, submitted his picture for his dad Bob.

A THOUSAND thank you notes to military heroes have been made into a poppy mosaic to be installed at the REME Museum in Lyneham. The Remember Together poppy was made for the 2020 Remembrance Day in lockdown to honour those who have served. The BBC’s local radio stations asked listeners to submit photos of themselves, displaying the name of a service person they wanted to remember. Head of BBC Local Radio Chris Burns said: “We all know someone who serves or has served in the military. We hope this poppy, made up of a thousand thank you notes, will be a fitting tribute to the British heroes who died in battle, and those who continue to serve.”
