After a long and valiant struggle, Rolene Berg’s earthly journey ended on April 22, 2021, while holding her daughter’s hand.
Born Dec. 5,1941, she was the only surviving child of Jack and Helen Berg.
Rolene graduated from Alpena Community College and then Michigan State University. Her first career was as a teacher and then in 1977, she joined New Way In, Inc as the administrator of the women’s reentry program. She assisted many women in their return to society and worked at New Way In until 1989, when she joined the State of Michigan as a Social Worker. In 1984, Rolene’s dream of being a mother was fulfilled when she adopted her daughter Melissa.

Loretta Mae (Wise) Nelson “Rusty,” 92, of Fort Dodge, IA, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021, at Unity Point Trinity Regional Medical Center after a short illness. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home, 923 1st Avenue South. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Services will be live streamed via the Historic Bruce Funeral Home Facebook page. Representative Brad Pollitt, a Republican, who represents parts of Johnson and Pettis Counties (District 52) in the Missouri House of Representatives, is scheduled to be the featured speaker at an area event next month.
Whiteman Air Force Base’s 33rd Memorial Wreath Laying Ceremony is scheduled to be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, at Memorial Park Cemetery at 3306 Greenridge Road in Sedalia.
The event is being held in memory of 2nd Lieutenant George A. Whiteman of the U.S. Air Force (born October 12, 1929; died December 7, 1941).
Pollitt was elected to his first two-year term in November 2018.
In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Pollitt is the owner and operator of Rocher P. Cattle Company LLC. He previously worked as an educator and administrator for 34 years. Pollitt served as a teacher and coach in North Shelby and Sedalia; a principal in Smithton; assistant superintendent in Knob Noster; and superintendent in Sedalia.
