Pregnant woman shot on I-95 in Hallandale Beach

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Authorities are investigating a shooting that occurred early Monday morning in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 in Hallandale Beach.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 31-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman who is pregnant were traveling in a silver Mercedes-Benz just north of Hallandale Beach Boulevard when they were shot at just after 1 a.m.
Troopers said the couple was traveling in the left lane when a silver Chevrolet SUV approached the vehicle from the right side and shot multiple times into their car.
The man driving the Mercedes swerved to the left and entered the express lanes to avoid the shooter and then contacted authorities.
The victim was hit once in the right thigh and transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in serious but stable condition. The driver of the Mercedes, a 31-year-old man, was not injured.
FHP did not release any information on who the shooter may be, but said the incident may be related to road rage. There’s really no need to take out a gun and shoot at someone just because they cut you off. No one wants to be cut off, but it’s no reason to commit a felony, to try and take somebody s life, FHP Lt. Yanko Reyes said. We have a pregnant female, we have to think about this soon-to-be mom and her baby, do you really want that on your conscience?

Feb. 1 A shooting in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 in Monday s first hours left a pregnant woman in serious, but stable condition, the Florida Highway Patrol says.
According to FHP, the driver of a silver Chevrolet SUV caught up to a silver Mercedes-Benz as they rolled just north of the Hallandale Beach Boulevard exit around 1 a.m. The Mercedes was in the far left general lane.
A gunman from the SUV fired into the Mercedes, hitting the woman in the thigh. She was sitting in the Mercedes passenger seat.
