Fashion designer LaQuoisha Boyce, a.k.a. L’Boyce, has been selling and manufacturing haute couture and custom wedding gowns in our area for the past three years.
“My inspiration came from my granny, the Late Corine Mosle, my mother, aunts and my First Lady Quamea Shaw, she said. Granny in my eyes was a wealthy woman. She was a seamstress, a seamstress who raised five kids on her own. She grew flowers, pears, plums, figs and a vegetable garden (large) enough to feed the neighborhood. She even sewed her own clothes. She taught my mother and aunts how to sew as well. She took sick about three years ago and before she transitioned, she gave me her sewing box.

Dorchester-based Nina Garcia says she hopes people feel comfort and love when they listen to It s OK To Not Be OK. The single will be released on January 29 and Nina says its message is that it s important to talk about how you feel when you re struggling. She said: “I’m really looking forward to the release of It’s OK To Not Be OK. I hope that people feel some comfort and love when they listen to it. If it instigates conversation and helps even just one person to speak out about how they feel, then that will be wonderful.
Pierre Cardin: Fashion world reacts to death of French designer aged 98 Jochan Embley
The world of fashion has paid tribute to the “extraordinary” designer Pierre Cardin, who has passed away at the age of 98.
Cardin, whose career spanned seven decades, sent shockwaves through the fashion scene of the 1950s and 60s with his futuristic pieces, and pioneered a new way of conducting business by successfully licensing his own name.
Jean Paul Gaultier, the French designer first hired by Cardin in 1970, thanked his former mentor on Twitter for “opening the doors to fashion and making my dream possible”.

Stella Tennant, British supermodel and fashion nonconformist, has died at 50

Stella Tennant made her name in modeling by eschewing the traditionally feminine aesthetics that made stars out of her contemporaries. With her blunt pixie cut and piercing stare, she was the darling of 90s fashion.
Tennant, who maintained her edge throughout her lengthy career in fashion, died this week at age 50, Vogue reported. Tennant s family, including her husband, David Lasnet, and their four children, confirmed the news in a statement to the fashion outlet. It is with great sadness we announce the sudden death of Stella Tennant on 22 December 2020, the statement read. Stella was a wonderful woman and an inspiration to us all. She will be greatly missed.
