Mamadi Camara is suing the city of Montreal and crown prosecutors for $1.2 million. The 31-year-old university student along with six family members and friends are pursuing the city after Camara was arrested by Montreal police and incarcerated for six days as a suspect in the attempted murder of a police officer on January 28. It was Camara who called 911 to report that the officer who stopped him for a minor infraction was attacked by a third man whom he then described, but it was Camara who quickly became the prime suspect and subject to what his lawyers called a “brutal arrest.”
