Industry, not policies, should decide the course of electric mobility

Aston Martin’s former CEO, Dr Andy Palmer, suggests that the industry should be free to experiment and choose the best zero emissions tech to meet regulations.

And though the need for the shift towards electric mobility is undisputed, the ‘how’ and ‘when’ do throw up plenty of debate. At the recent EV Forum organised by our sister publication Autocar Professional, Dr Andy Palmer, Chairman, Switch Mobility and former CEO of Aston Martin, said, “While we must be single-minded in the journey to zero emissions, we must not be myopic.” He went on to say, “My problem with legislation is that, frankly, politicians aren t qualified to mandate the solution. If they mandate the solution, they make mistakes.”
COLUMBIA, Mo. â University of Missouri Extension will offer a webinar series to help beginning home gardeners grow a vegetable garden. The Zoom course covers the basics from planning and seed starting to diseases and insects.
Sessions are 6:30-8 p.m. Thursdays, March 25-May 27. Live sessions include lectures followed by question-and-answer periods with MU Extension horticulture specialists.
âFor those interested in growing their own food, this is a good course to start with, focusing on the basic knowledge for gardens,â said MU Extension horticulturist Debi Kelly.

As many as 500 people gathered on high ground at Waitangi Golf Course during yesterday s tsunami warning triggered by a magnitude 8.1 earthquake 1000km northeast of Cape Reinga.
As well as evacuations on land many boaties heeded warnings, broadcast on Russell Radio, to move to water at least 40m deep.
