Nicholls Only Louisiana University Ranked for Students on Autism Spectrum January 22, 2021 Nicholls is the only Louisiana university on the list and No. 46 in the country. Criteria include other methodology rankings, affordability, evidence of innovative practices and student success. Nicholls offers two programs for students on the autism spectrum. The Bridge to Independence program offers a two-year certificate program that helps students with an Intellectual Disability gain employability and independent living skills. It was the first program of its kind in Louisiana certified by the United States Department of Education. For students identified with Autism or Autism Spectrum Disorder, Nicholls also offers a two or four-year Bridge to Independence option.
