Smartphone companies are drumming up excitement for the upcoming June 18 online shopping festival and have come up with a slew of incentives, payment plans and new products to attract consumers.
Xu Qi, vice-president of smartphone company Realme, said the brand will offer 700 million yuan ($109.2 million) in subsidies to consumers who buy smartphones during the June 18 online shopping festival. We plan to sell more than 1 million smartphones during the period, said Xu, adding that Realme has unveiled three major new handsets in the 1,500 yuan to 2,500 yuan price range for the festival.

Proudly billing itself as a global emerging consumer technology brand, realme reports having shipped 12.8 million smartphones globally in the first quarter of 2021, according to data from Counterpoint Research.
The brand maintained its position as one of the top five players in 13 countries worldwide, and, for the first time, was in the top four vendors in three European countries in terms of number of shipments as per the Q1 2021 Canalys global smartphone shipments report.
Since expanding into the European market in 2019, Counterpoint Research says realme has rapidly emerged to become the fastest growing smartphone brand in the region with 183% YoY growth in Q1 2021.
