White raked in $178,000 in 18 months, court records show. He collected aluminum, copper and brass all over Portland. He then sold the piles of metal scrap to bigger recycling companies. But for White, the name of his enterprise hinted at what he apparently thoughtwas the best way to get the metal: by stealing, police and prosecutors allege. Police found that White ran his company from little more than a dirt patch beside a Northeast Portland road, where they said he parked his mobile home, a pickup, several trailers and a tangle of twisted stolen metal, spools of wire and burn bins used to strip insulated wire.

Wednesday, April 14, 2021 - 9:15 am BY JIMMY LAWTON North Country This Week OGDENSBURG – A debate over Ogdensburg Public Library Board of Trustees appointments got heated Monday after the mayor took no action on the matter despite requests from the public. Several members of the public called on Mayor Jeffrey M. Skelly to appoint candidates recommended by the Ogdensburg Library Board of Trustees to fill three seats on their board. “The appointments to the library board are absolutely the mayor’s and confirmed by the city council,” City Manager Stephen Jellie told board members. “That is the law sent to me by Michelle McLagan, their board president.”

Ogdensburg accepts draft development plan, planners and public to review

Sunday, April 4, 2021 - 5:05 pm BY JIMMY LAWTON North Country This Week OGDENSBURG – Despite some debate over ensuring the need for adequate public review and assurances it would not replace the Local Waterfront Revitalization Plan, Ogdensburg City Council agreed to accept a draft Community Development Plan. Deputy Mayor John Rishe with some help from fellow councilors drafted a 30-page plan. Despite frequent disagreements between factions of the city council, the plan passed 6-0. Councilor Nichole Kennedy was not present. Councilor Daniel Skamperle said while he has some ideas that differ from the draft, he believes it s a good place to start.
