Body of Andrew Makin, from Ulverston, found decomposing after drug death

THE body of a former welder was found decomposed after he had not been seen for weeks by his neighbours, an inquest heard. Andrew Makin was found dead at the age of 55 at his home in Larch Grove, Ulverston, on November 21, 2020. The hearing heard police were called to his house after none of his neighbours could recall when they last saw him. PC Meehan described a strong smell at the property, which was one of the reasons police were called. Due to heavy decomposition fingerprint identification was required to confirm Mr Makin s identity, said coroner Dr Nicholas Shaw. “I believe he took drugs,” neighbour Lucy Allan said.
