Housing Board flats remain a hot commodity with a record 23 units changing hands last month for a million dollars or more, while overall resale prices rose for the eighth straight month.
Resale prices climbed 1.4 per cent last month from January, and a striking 8.3 per cent from February last year, though still 5.7 per cent lower than their peak in April 2013.
Flats that went for at least $1 million made up about 1 per cent of the total number of units resold. The highest price for a resale flat last month was $1.21 million for an executive maisonette in Toh Yi Drive, flash data released yesterday by real estate portal SRX showed.
Composer Nina Shekhar Receives The ASCAP Foundation Nissim Prize
Paul Williams, President of The ASCAP Foundation, announces that Nina Shekhar has been named the recipient of the 41st annual ASCAP Foundation Rudolf Nissim Prize. Selected by a panel of conductors, Shekhar was honored for Lumina, a c. 11-minute work for orchestra, and awarded a prize of $5,000.
Dr. Rudolf Nissim, former head of ASCAP s International Department and a devoted friend of contemporary composers, established this annual prize through a bequest to The ASCAP Foundation. The Prize is presented annually to an ASCAP concert composer for a work requiring a conductor that has not been performed professionally. A jury of three conductors selects the winning score.

The Housing Board resale market started the year on a strong footing as prices rose for the seventh consecutive month last month, propped up by the continuing strong demand for public housing.
According to flash data from real estate portal SRX released yesterday, resale prices rose by 1.7 per cent last month, compared with last December.
The overall price increase was 7.7 per cent compared with last year, but still 7 per cent lower than the peak in April 2013.
Purchases of units fell to 742 last year, according to Singapore-based real estate consultancy firms ERA Realty Network and OrangeTee & Tie Pte. That’s the lowest since 2003, when non-permanent residents bought 671 units, based on analysis of government data as of Tuesday that takes into account new, sub-sale and second-hand apartments.
