Major US airlines on Wednesday officially dropped plans to lay off thousands of workers after Congress approved President Joe Biden s $1.9 trillion economic relief package.
The legislation, which includes $14 billion in payroll support for flight attendants, pilots and other staff, comes as the industry awaits the first signs of a sustained recovery from the coronavirus downturn.
