WASHINGTON - The state of Michigan and the city of Detroit have asked a federal judge to sanction attorneys who filed lawsuits that falsely alleged the November vote was fraudulent, the first of several similar efforts expected across the country.
An Atlanta-area prosecutor has launched a criminal investigation into whether pressure that then-President Donald Trump and his allies put on state officials amounted to an illegal scheme to overturn the results of the presidential election.
And defamation lawsuits have been filed against Trump s allies - the start of what could be a flood of civil litigation related to false claims that the election was rigged and to the subsequent riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.

Visual storytelling from emerging talent in the city.
That’s what the community-based photojournalism initiative Documenting Detroit is all about. And it’s why the Freep Film Festival is partnering with the organization on a series of three virtual events all free that will showcase the work of 15 Documenting Detroit fellows.
Documenting Detroit is a fellowship that works with up-and-coming photographers, with the aim of telling stories that are rarely seen in news media coverage.
The latest cohort of fellows spent four months building their stories. They were mentored by editors, curators and media professionals along the way. The completed projects blend photos and audio into mini documentaries.

Air Force One was fueled and ready for the final flight.
This was the end for Donald Trump, the last hours of a progressively more noxious and isolated presidency. But as he was poised to fly south from Joint Base Andrews into the uncertainty of his after-times, Ronna McDaniel was able to get him on the line.
McDaniel, the unfailingly amiable chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, had stood by Trump, even as a trickle of GOP luminaries abandoned him. She had been Trump s handpicked choice to lead the GOP four years earlier, and she had been loyal up to a point: gently critical of his most profane outbursts and divisive rhetoric, but buoyantly supportive of his policies and his often erratic conduct in office.

House passes vote urging Pence to remove Trump from office under 25th Amendment
Replay Video UP NEXT The Democratic-led House voted late Tuesday to officially call on Vice President Pence to remove President Trump by invoking the 25th Amendment, rebuffing the vice president’s objections. In a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Pence had urged Congress “to avoid actions that would further divide and inflame the passions of the moment.” The House proceeded with the vote and is on course to consider impeaching Trump on Wednesday on one charge, “incitement of insurrection,” days after a pro-Trump mob attacked the Capitol.
