Darlington Borough Council officially begins rebrand of services

The new look has been rolled out online Picture: SCREENGRAB Councillor Jonathan Dulston, Deputy Leader of Darlington Council, told The Northern Echo that the rebrand had been a “big success” and said reaction had been positive. He said: “Having started the roll-out of the new brand earlier this week, we’re pleased that the majority of the feedback we’ve had, both on social media and elsewhere, has been positive. “People have said the new look is modern and professional, and they’ve welcomed our decision to put Darlington’s existing coat of arms at the forefront. “Obviously, you can’t always please everyone and there may be things we look to tweak as we move forward with the roll-out, but from my point of view the rebrand has been a big success and a key achievement in our efforts to transform the council and deliver success for Darlington.”

Darlington couple get permission for healthy takeaway in North Road

It means everything to us to get it granted. Planning agent Keith McClure, of Myplansdrawn, said: They are Sri Lankan and they are looking to introduce Sri Lankan food to Darlington. It s not another hot food kebab takeaway. That was never the intention. Thirteen objections had been made, addressing concerns including parking, road safety, the the volume of fast food outlets in the area, and noise levels. A neighbour, who is disabled, also attended the meeting to express her concern about the impact on parking and her ability to access her home. Councillor Anne-Marie Curry spoke on her behalf, as well as elderly residents living in a housing scheme behind North Road.

PopMaster, Noel Gallagher and the Post Office Scandal: A Week in Radio:

Noel Gallagher ONE small upside of the whole working-from-home thing that’s been going on for the last year is the daily chance to test ourselves on Ken Bruce’s weekday PopMaster quiz on Radio 2. On Bank Holiday Monday, Radio 2 decided to run the quiz all day, with celebs (TV and radio personalities for the most part; neither Cher nor George Clooney turned up) playing against listeners on the hour every hour all the way through to Sara Cox at teatime. The Chase’s Jenny Ryan was the ultimate winner, wiping the floor with Jeremy Vine in the final. Frankly, if I were Richard Osman I’d be demanding an official inquiry into the difficulty rating of his questions which seemed rather harder than anyone else’s. But as producer Phil Swern, one of PopMaster’s creators, pointed out, in the documentary

Conservatives & Labour clash in latest row over Darlington Council rebrand

An artist s impression of the new-look Darlington Town Hall A ROW over a move to rebrand Darlington Borough Council has shown no sign of abating as both the ruling Conservatives and the Labour group robustly defended their positions. The war of words, which is the latest in a series of bitter disputes over the last year between the political groups, follows the authority’s cabinet approving what its members described as long overdue changes to the council’s logo and way it presented itself. However, opposition councillors have continued to question the move, which includes cladding part of the town’s exterior in blue. Labour and Green members said the move would put the hundreds of non-political staff who work at the authority’s headquarters in a difficult position.
