GWS v Essendon
Saturday - Giants Stadium
This game suddenly has a bit more riding on it for the Giants who have ignited their finals hopes over the past month.
GWS has won three of their past four, and a victory over Essendon would take them to an even 4-4 record and with the platform to make a tilt for the top eight.

Just two sides remain undefeated after five rounds.
The Western Bulldogs and Melbourne continued their perfect starts to the season with respective wins over Gold Coast and Hawthorn.
Richmond, West Coast, GWS, Port Adelaide, Brisbane, Fremantle and Geelong also recorded important wins with North Melbourne the only side without a victory.
We have selected one positive and one negative from every club’s Round 5 performance.
See our thoughts below:

Well that was unfortunate.
The Bombers were able to play an out-of-sorts Brisbane Lions back into form but it remains to be seen how profound the implications of last night’s match are in a disrupted 2021 season for the Bombers.
The Bombers played as well as a drenched dog, that is to say that they stunk.
Without further ado here are my take always from the Round 5 match between Essendon and Brisbane.

Forgotten Lion Rhys Mathieson has dominated Brisbane’s big VFL win on Saturday afternoon, while Essendon’s backup ruck duo continued to press their case for senior selection.
Mathieson, who has fallen out of favour in recent years and only played one AFL game in 2020, was one of the Lions’ best players on a dominant afternoon in their VFL season-opener, kicking two goals and finding the footy on 31 occasions.
Devon Robertson, who played in Brisbane’s AFL side last weekend, impressed as well as he eyes a recall to the senior side, while Keidean Coleman kicked two majors and had 26 touches during the afternoon.
