The skinhead subculture was born in England in the late 1960s as an offshoot of the mod culture. Skinheads were distinct from other British subcultures due to their uniform of boots, jeans, braces (suspenders), and the trademark shaved head.

Alvin Kallicharran was one of the pivots of the West Indian batting line-up through the 1970s.
In an international career from 1971-72 to 1980-81, the diminutive Guyanese left-hander scored 4399 runs at 44.43 in 66 Tests, besides 826 runs at 34.41 in 31 ODIs. He also enjoyed a distinguished domestic career, with most of his first-class and List A matches coming for Guyana at home and Warwickshire on the county circuit.
The 1984 season was Kallicharran’s 14th in succession for Warwickshire (he would go on to represent the county until 1990). Although he was out of favour for the West Indies, he kept performing well in domestic cricket. He also played for Transvaal in South Africa from 1981-82 to 1983-84.
