Readers voice views on relaxation of holiday rules

READERS have reacted to possible plans to let holidaymakers jet off to a handful sun-kissed European hotspots this month. The European Commission has proposed to ease restrictions on travel to countries in the bloc Covid-19 after mass vaccination campaigns get underway and lower levels of infection. And the UK government’s “green list” of countries to which people can travel without having to isolate for 14 days on their return is expected to be released this week, although it is understood details are still being finalised. Boris Johnson has said some foreign travel from the UK will be able to go ahead from mid-May.

Share via Shortlink When the big trees fall, and light pierces the canopy, new giants will grow into the aperture. In fact, 2020 saw $15 billion in funding for life sciences development and more than $10 billion in closed real estate deals. Life of Pi moves West End start date to November

The Life of Pi Life of Pi has confirmed new dates for its rescheduled West End run. The play is based on the Man Booker-winning novel of the same name, written by Yann Martel, which is about what happens when a cargo ship sinks in the Pacific Ocean and the only survivors – a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan, a 16 year-old boy and a Bengal tiger – are stranded together on a lifeboat. In early 2020, the Sheffield Theatres production won the WhatsOnStage Award for Best New Play – the first time a piece of new writing outside of the capital has picked up the prize.

Midweek saw the first of the Wednesday night races with another big entry. Saturday featured the inaugural event of the new Fox s Great Eastern Tour RS200 open circuit, plus a large number of club boats afloat for adult and junior race training. Sunday was Week 2 of the Spring Restart sailing series. Although sunny, the brisk 15-knot northerly reduced the apparent temperature to around zero. This didn t deter another big turnout of hardy Grafham sailors. The wind had large fluctuations, particularly on the approach to the windward mark. The big cats and asymmetric monohulls enjoyed the conditions on their windward-le
