The Coney Island Maybe Annual Music Festival has garnered an award.
Festival and Events Ontario has given Coneyfest an Achievement Award.
Ferg Devins is one of the co-founders and says the fact they were able to hold the event during the pandemic was an achievement.
“We were one of the first events, certainly the first event in northwestern Ontario, to get back on the calendar last summer,” says Devins.
“And one of the few events actually in Ontario at that time of the year that was up and running. I think the way we looked at it, do it safely, do proper social distancing, property sanitization, shuttling our talent to and from Coney Island in a safe manner. We were recognized for really being able to adapt.”

For a second consecutive year, the Town of LaSalle has decided against holding two popular summer festivals due to COVID-19 concerns.
At a meeting on Tuesday, town council unanimously voted to cancel the 2021 LaSalle Strawberry Festival, traditionally held in June, and the 2021 Last Call Before Fall event, usually held in September.
