LOS ANGELES The online forum Reddit one of the world’s most popular social media sites, with 430 million monthly visitors has no plans to ban porn, according to the company’s CEO Steve Huffman. The declaration by Huffman, made during an interview with Axios on HBO, sets Reddit apart from many other social media platforms, and defies a global trend toward banning adult content online.
In the interview, Huffman added that Reddit does not want to see “exploitative” porn on its forums. But there s another aspect that s empowering. And these are people sharing stories of themselves, pictures of themselves. And we are perfectly supportive of that,” Huffman said.

LOS ANGELES As 2020 came to an end, after a year filled with proposed legislation designed to crack down on adult content online, a bill appeared in the United States Senate that took the most draconian approach to date, when it comes to controlling sexually explicit material online. Titled the “Stop Internet Sexual Exploitation Act,” or SISEA, the proposed law sponsored on a bipartisan basis by Oregon Democrat Jeff Merkely and Nebraska Republican Ben Sasse threatened to shut down the whole online adult industry, with its broad language aimed at any “online platform that hosts and makes available to the general public pornographic images.”

LOS ANGELES The state of Utah has been in the forefront of the legislative anti-porn movement for several years. In 2016, Utah became one of the first states to officially declare porn a “public health crisis.” And earlier this year, the state passed a law requiring all porn sites to include a “health warning” label at the start of every online video.
But the state is not done yet, apparently. According to a report by
Salt Lake Tribune newspaper, Republican state House Rep Susan Pulsipher is pushing new legislation that would require all smartphones and tablet computers sold in the state to automatically block porn sites.
