When Mario Feliciano made his major league debut last weekend, it was unlikely for a number of reasons. That’s not to say that Feliciano is a nobody: The hard-hitting catcher was the MVP of the Carolina League in 2019 and has been highly ranked by multiple outlets for some time now. But prior to the 2021 season, he had barely played above A-ball, having spent most of 2019 as a member of the Carolina Mudcats, then a high-A affiliate of the Brewers, before earning a late-season promotion to the Double-A Biloxi Shuckers, where he played in only three games. But when Omar Narváez was placed on the injured list on May 1, Feliciano was called up from the Brewers’ alternate site to replace the ailing backup catcher on the roster, though his call-up seemed unlikely to lead to playing time, barring unforeseen circumstances.

The Hens have come out mashing. After scoring eight runs in the opener, they went one better on Wednesday night to make it 2-0 on the year.
Veteran right-hander Drew Hutchison got the start, and he quickly took a little damage, giving up a two run double to the Sounds’ Zach Green. The Hens struck right back in the bottom of the second though. Derek Hill cracked a three-run shot with Christin Stewart and Dustin Garneau aboard, and then the Hens proceeded to score again in the third and fourth frames to take a 6-3 lead into the late innings.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – After a hiatus of more than 19 months due to the coronavirus pandemic, Minor League Baseball is back.
Nearly two dozen former Arkansas standouts will suit up for a minor-league affiliate this season. Heston Kjerstad, the second overall pick in the 2020 MLB Draft, headlines the group, reporting to the Delmarva Shorebirds (Low-A, Baltimore Orioles) to begin his pro career.
Kjerstad’s debut is highly anticipated following the cancellation of last season. The outfielder is the No. 59 overall prospect in all of baseball entering the 2021 campaign.
Fellow 2020 draftee Casey Martin will report to the Clearwater Threshers (Low-A, Philadelphia Phillies). The speedy infielder was selected by the Phillies in the third round (87th) overall in this past year’s draft.
