Temporary weekday closure of Scout Lake recreation sites set to begin
SISTERS, Ore. (KTVZ) Beginning Monday, Scout Lake Group Campground and Day Use Area will be closed during the weekdays for the safety of forest users and contractors while logging operations are conducted as part of the Greater Suttle Lake Vegetation Management Project.
The temporary closures will be in place Mondays at 6 a.m. through Fridays at 4 p.m. The area will be open to the public after 4 p.m. on Fridays through the weekend, reclosing again on Monday mornings.
The area will be fully open during Memorial Day weekend, including on the Monday holiday. Campground reservations on the weekends after Memorial Day weekend will be honored.

Volunteers removed more than 2,500 pounds of trash, including more than 200 tobacco-related items, from Del Norte County to commemorate Earth Day.

Celebrate Earth Day by getting your exercise picking up trash? Over 25 community volunteers did just that during the week of April 22 and through their efforts more than 2500 pounds of trash was removed from multiple public access, beach, and park locations around Del Norte.
The Earth Day cleanup was organized by the Tobacco Use Prevention Program (TUPP) and the Smith River Alliance with help from the Del Norte Solid Waste Management Authority and Elk Valley Casino. Other partners included California State Parks, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Tobacco Free Del Norte, and the Redwood Parks Conservancy.

Parks and Trails New York, in partnership with New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation and DEC, will be hosting a more contained, two-day event on
Saturday, May 1, and Sunday, May 2, 2021 with social distancing and mask requirements in place.
