Spring has sprung at 3rd Day Farm

LAKE CITY — Spring is in the air Third Day Farm near Lake City. As one can imagine, spring is a busy time on a farm. There is the planting and the planning for what needs to get ready. Since they do things in stages at the farm, planning is critical. For example, Third Day Farm partners Anne Gothard and Shirley Salmon said they already are selling the fruits of the third planting of salad greens. Then there are the babies. Calves, lambs, and even barn kittens are some of the new residents at the farm. Spring is a time for rebirth and renewal after the long winter.

Arbor Day Foundation director of farm operations, Auburn alumnus giving virtual talk April 29 Published: April 22, 2021 Decrease Font Size Font Size Increase Font Size Article body Auburn University will host a virtual talk with Auburn alumnus Adam Howard ’97, director of farm operations at Arbor Day Farm, on April 29 as part of the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences’ 75th Anniversary Celebration. Howard is the second speaker of the virtual “7 for 75 Speaker Series” hosted as part of the school’s yearlong celebration, which began March 1. He will give a talk titled, “How the Arbor Day Foundation impacts our world through the power of trees.” Participants will learn about Howard’s time at Auburn, his career and current position as director of farm operations, the significance of Arbor Day and the critical role of the Arbor Day Foundation.

Campground The Fairmont City Council recently disapproved a letter of intent regarding the Day Farm property, received from Carlson Walters Group, LLC regarding the purchase of 55 acres of the Day Far for $1. The 55 acres would be used to develop a campground.
