Since then several animal rescue groups, including New Jersey s Skylands Animal Sanctuary and Rescue, have been searching but have yet to capture him. Skylands has even committed to giving Barney a forever home.

Gene L. Neumiller, 90, passed away on July 24, 2021, at New Perspective Memory Care in West Fargo where he had resided for three and a half years.
Gene was born June 3, 1931, in Bisbee, ND and was raised in Cathay, ND. After graduating from Cathay High School, Gene enlisted in the Navy for four years and served aboard the USS President Jackson.
Gene and Norma Jean Seidel were married October 24, 1954, at Cathay, ND. They had two daughters.
After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he worked as a telegrapher for the Soo Line Railroad for ten years. They lived in Carrington and Kenmare during this time. Gene started banking in Carrington at Foster County State Bank. In 1969, they moved to Cando, ND, where Gene assisted in developing the operational procedures for Towner County State Bank, a newly chartered bank.
