Tulsa women’s drop game to the Shockers Tulsa Women’s basketball faced off against Wichita St. Shockers on March 3rd at 6 p.m.. It was a great fought out effort for the Golden Hurricane, but eventually they fell short in an overtime loss 85-77. After this loss, Tulsa’s Women’s basketball team falls to 4-13 in the American Athletic Conference. The first quarter was a close one with Wichita St. being up 1, 21-20. Leading into the half, the score was 46-39 with Wichita St still leading. In the third quarter, the Golden Hurricane came out with a vengeance and brought the game within four,the score being 58-54 still in Wichita’s favor. Finally, in the fourth quarter, Tulsa made their comeback and tied it up at 69 to head into OT. It was anyone’s game at this point, score effectively 0-0 again, but in OT the Shockers ended up pulling it out.

Norman North High School innovative learning coach Jessica Eschbach was named the 2021 Oklahoma Teacher of the Year during a virtual ceremony Friday. Her smile was hidden by her mask – but her reaction was obvious. “I’m in shock and disbelief,” she said upon learning she had won. I want to thank Norman Public Schools and everyone who helped me on my journey to being a teacher,” she said. Eshbach has taught at the district for seven years. She began as a social studies and English teacher at Alcott Middle School. She later worked as a librarian and teacher at Kennedy Elementary School. In the last year, she has been an innovative learning coach at Norman North. We ve had a lot of pivoting to do, so we ve to work with them on new learning programs and to reach the kids that are still learning at home,” she said. Eschbach was chosen out of 12 finalists. Norman Public Schools Jessica Eschbach Named 2021 Oklahoma Teacher Of The Year

The announcement was made via a virtual ceremony on Thursday morning. Eschbach, an Innovative Learning Coach at Norman North High School, was selected among 12 finalists statewide. Last year s Oklahoma Teacher of the Year was Jena Nelson from Deer Creek Public Schools. Eschbach will begin her duties as the state s Teacher of the Year on July 1.
