NORMAN, Oklahoma -
Norman police are conducting a death investigation after residents of a home near the University of Oklahoma campus found a decomposed body in their basement.
The Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office determined the remains belonged to Margarita Sandoval, who would have been 22 years old when police searched the basement in May.
In a search warrant, Norman Police Detective Sean Judy wrote they found the remains in a black box “wrapped in numerous layers of a thick plastic, possibly 20-30 layers.”
After cutting off the wrapping, Judy wrote officers saw “a liquid leaking from the box,” followed by “insects escaping.” Once the officers smelled “an odor of decomposition,” they seized the box.

NORMAN, Oklahoma -
Norman police arrested six men in connection with an illegal gambling operation, three of whom have been charged with felonies this week.
On Thursday, July 15, officers responded to the XingXing Karaoke Bar, formerly called Absolute Karaoke Bar on West Main Street after someone said they lost their phone inside. The caller said employees of the business refused to return his phone after he plugged it in to charge.
The caller led officers to 2244 W. Main St., a business that’s two doors down from the bar which formerly housed Mystique Hair Salon. They immediately saw several men sitting around gambling tables behind an interior wall that separated the storefront from the rest of the space.
