BOLTON comedian Dave Wolfe revealed he had distinct advantage when he took on fellow funnyman Jim Bowen in a new Channel 4 TV series, A Frame with Davis, in 1984. In the show two well-known personalities played a frame of snooker while talking to World Snooker Champion Steve Davis. Dave revealed that he regularly played against Bolton’s Tony Knowles before he turned professional and that he turned out each week for Eagley Sports and Social Club. “Tony and I come from the same area and I was a member of the club where his father was steward and where we learned to play,” said Dave. “We used to play for a pound a frame and he would give me 60 start and still win.
