Carrboro downs Clinton in PKs to capture 2A East regional championship

Carrboro, N.C. Carrboro s girls soccer team captured the 2021 2A eastern regional championship with a thrilling comeback victory over Clinton that went to overtime and then penalty kicks. The Jaguars will play in the 2A state championship game against Lake Norman Charter on either Friday or Saturday.
The game was extensive, tight, and clean. It was a joy to watch for fans of both teams. Clinton captured the lead right before the half on a nice goal from sophomore Ally Sutter off her left foot.

Many Mecklenburg County residents were left confused and scrambling Tuesday evening after Public Health Director Gibbie Harris issued a surprise directive and reversed her previous stance on in-person school.
The directive, which was issued about an hour before the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school board was scheduled to meet to discuss having students return to in-person learning next week, encouraged residents to stay home except for essential activities for the next three weeks in an effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
